stuckinarut2 - I am an Aussie living in the UK. Smiddy and Julia Orwell are Aussies I think but I don't know about others. It seems the Witness population in Australia is shrinking - too many critical thinking Aussies!

Do you think marrying an unbeliever could be a disfellowshipping offense in the future?

The gender imbalance in the organisation would mean even more single sisters and as others have mentioned less potential recruits. The GB would know that sisters with UBMs generally succeed in bringing up the kids in the TRUFE.

Need some advice...For my kids
by Jon Preston insince being out mentally and missing meetings my children mention people from the hall and i cant help but feel bad that they are missing the association.
my daughters are 4 and 2 and we live in a small town with not a whole lot to do.
what activities did you do with your kids?

Going to the park, getting to know the neighbours who have kids a similar age and getting to know the other parents at school, which is best achieved by mums at drop off and pick up time (something my JW wife is incapable of doing that drives me spare as it means my son doesn't get invited to other kids houses to play) are the best ways to get them interacting with other kids.
Until this happens the best thing is to play in the garden or in the house (which means getting down on the floor) with them. At that age you can throw them in the air, swing them around, give them piggy back rides, play chasings and hide and seek (when you are looking for them be very vocal about where you are looking for them and how hard it is to find them and how surprised you are when you find them etc.).
As they get older you can introduce wrestling with rules (no punching, kicking, pulling hair etc.) to taech them about safe rough and tumble. Let them use their imagination in making up stories and play acting them out (be a monster, a big bad wolf etc.). for boys as they get older you can just hang out in the back yard playing catch and kicking balls and shooting hoops etc.
And best of all make Dad jokes- the cornier the better.

US Official Predicts End Of World Power Status
by metatron inhttp://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2014/03/28/americans-must-adjust-to-a-world-dominated-by-china-feds-bullard-says/.
an alliance could emerge that suddenly upsets the balance of power , making anglo-america number 2. already, the brics nations seem to be moving towards a loose alliance on many issues.
either way, things are moving in china's direction.

Projecting a linear growth in Chinese power and influence is dubious - Chinese economic growth is starting to grow and China's internal securtiy threats are more significant than its external threats so its internal focus will limit its ability and interest in projecting power externally except to use the old tactic of exaggerating the external threat to galvanise internal support and reduce the internal threat. While it is reasonable to see Anglo/US power waning, it is not obvious that China will replace the dominat position of the US. And suggesting tha tthe BRIC countries could be a bloc is rdiciulous - China/India and China/Russia are traditional adversaries. What we are moving towards is a situation where power is more dispersed but the Anglo-US alliance still remains dominant - just less so.

"Are there changes in understandings? YES
Is there a new bible? YES
Are the brothers imperfect? YES
Does that mean we do not have the truth? NO NO NO"
So how did they square this particular circle? Oh let me guess - today's Truth from God Spirit's directed organisation is tomorrow's Understanding from imperfect humans when changes in circumstances make it necessary to revise it!

If Someone Mocks Jehovah's Witnesses Does That Bother You?

emeth - I have seen you do the same but from the opposite viewpoint i.e. in defence of the organisation. WTWizard ridicules things that are open to ridicule - if you don't like it then ignore him - don't take it so personally. When, as a non-JW, I was first exposed to JW beliefs in detail my first reaction was 'how can anyone be stupid enough to believe this idiocy?' but after reading Steve Hassan and reading the experience of obviously intelligent people on this forum who were Witnesses I now understand that the methods the organisation uses to indoctrinate people, paticularly born-ins, means that belief in what the WBTS teaches is not an indicator of low intelligence although in some cases it is helped by insufficient education. So I revised my view. Hopefully you will revise your views and stop cherishing the GB and what it teaches. While most of my anger is directed at the GB, I do continue to get annoyed by self-righteous Witnesses who are only self-righteous by virtue of remaining ignorant about certain facts and closing their minds to important information. Cheers Fraz

emeth - Thanks for enlightening me on your linguistic abilities. I think I had made it clear that I did not see any connection between spelling and intelligence on the grounds that I myself commonly make spelling mistakes. The point of my comment was that 'those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones' - you are happy to dish it out by being judgemental and saying things or people are silly or lacking in intelligence so I wanted to see if you could take it or whether you take yourself and your beliefs too seriously and take offense easily. You answered my question. Fraz
